The Music Instructor will ensure a positive, fun, supportive and creative experience for all students.RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: This list is illustrative only and is not intended to be a comprehensive list of tasks performed by this classification. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.Provide instruction on a range of music including music theory, reading music, finger placement and technique, chord variation and progression, scales, tuning basicsCommunicate instruction to students in a courteous and respectful mannerPrepare materials for instructionBe on time and prepared for class to start at the designated timeProvide set-up I clean-up and any other tasks, as arranged in advanceWork with the Educational Administrators to plan classesCommunicate regularly with Educational Staff and Parents about student progressParticipate in departmental resource and program enhancementMaintain currency in techniques/methodParticipate in school activities and events that facilitate student learning and achievementAdministrative duties, responsibilities, and activities may be assigned or changed from time to timeAdhere to attendance policiesSpecific Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications, EtcAbility to convey ideas in the classroom with enthusiasm and creativityExhibit a sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, social, economic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of K-12 studentsAbility to interact successfully with a broad student population and work with various learning stylesEducation/Experience RequiredBachelor's Degree in education, specific subject area (i.e. a degree in mathematics), or related field from a regionally accredited college or university.Valid California Teaching credentialMusic authorization for the assignment is required.Strong teaching and interpersonal skills.Experience arranging student performances.Physical RequirementsMental Demands: high workflow management, and high project coordination.Finger Dexterity: primarily using fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.Talking: especially where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quicklyAverage Hearing: able to hear average conversations and receive ordinary information.Average Visual Abilities: ordinary acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or operate machineryPhysical Strength: sedentary work.
