Every day, we enable our customers to solve the most complex and dynamic challenges to help achieve a safe and sustainable world.The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer in Control Systems to deliver on-going client projects, and to further develop the capabilities of the team.Our Control and Electronics group is responsible for the specification, implementation and validation of control systems for a wide range of complex, clean propulsion and energy systems, including: xEV powertrains, power electronics, motors and drives, engines, transmissions, battery management systems, advanced thermal systems, and fuel cell systems. Our support to customers covers the full spectrum of control development, from core algorithm development, through to fully validated production control software (including safety software).In this role, you will be primarily responsible for development of new control systems for a wide range of applications for our client base, but may be expected to support other technical domains depending on the nature of the department workload.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical development of control solutions, covering requirements specification, algorithm development, component selection, implementation, calibration and validationLeadership to other team members in the delivery of control solutionsSupervision of junior team members on assigned tasksLiaison with wider team members to organise and deliver project activities as requiredManagement of verification and validation of control systems, by software or Model-in-Loop, Hardware-in-Loop & physical testingSupport the wider engineering team, contributing to: systems engineering, electrical integration and communications integrationDevelopment of dynamic models, based on understanding of system dynamics over a wide range of physical domainsInterfacing directly with clients and suppliers on technical issuesReporting of technical status internally and to customersFocus on delivery of projects on-time and on-budgetA certain amount of business travel can be expected including customer meetings, occasional on-site development support, and travel to other Ricardo sitesKey Competencies and ExperienceDegree in Engineering, Control / Electrical / Electronics or similarExperience in successful deployment of controls for complex systemsExperience providing technical leadership to engineering project teamsSolid understanding of physical principles and control techniquesFluency in model-based development languages for control software deployment, especially MATLAB-SimulinkDesirable Competencies and ExperienceExperience in programming for microcontrollers, or deployment of PLC controlsExperience in development and validation of controls for production programsWorking hereYou will be warmly welcomed into our workplace where every voice matters.
