The position assists patrons at the service desk, by phone, and by email with circulation of books, media, loanable technology, course reserves, and resource sharing materials; provides information assistance about the library and its resources; and participates in the hiring, training, and supervision of student employees. Additional responsibilities include maintaining library collections, ensuring accessibility compliance by remediating course reserve materials to meet WCAG standards, processing materials for circulation and transport, and handling specialized services such as payments, borrower’s cards, and policy interpretation.ResponsibilitiesUser Service Operations: Assist patrons with circulation, reserves, and resource sharing; provide basic research information to walk‑in patrons; troubleshoot public printing, scanning, and study room reservations.Circulation Operations: Create and update accounts; process payments; supervise student assistants; interpret policies and resolve munication: Assist patrons via email or phone with circulation or general information services; provide online payment options for library fees; resolve account issues; manage holds on student records; retrieve and prepare materials for holds or transport; process UGA and non‑UGA materials through mail.Student Staff Management: Review applications, interview, and provide feedback for hiring; train and mentor student assistants; supervise and direct work; correct and approve time cards; evaluate performance; provide training feedback.Accessibility & Collections Maintenance: Retrieve and scan materials for reserves; OCR scanned documents; remediate PDFs with proper structure and alternative text; assist shelving unit with stack maintenance.Other Duties: Participate in unit and departmental meetings and projects; contribute to library-wide communication via GRAPEVINE; adapt to additional duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and CompetenciesComputer literacy for data entry, communication, and file management.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, and accessibility remediation tools such as Adobe Acrobat Pro and ABBYY FineReader.Customer service skills: tactful, courteous interaction with patrons.Supervision skills: ability to mentor student employees.Clerical accuracy and attention to detail.Relationship building and effective communication (verbal and written).Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards and best practices.Ability to process payments with checks and credit cards.Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.Preferred Qualifications One year of experience working in a library or similar setting.Physical Demands Standard office environment.Additional Information Retirement Plan:TRSEmployment Type:Employee, Full Time, Non‑ExemptBenefits Eligibility:Benefits EligibleProposed Starting Date:12/01/2025EEO Statement The University of Georgia is an Equal Opportunity employer.
