Summary: Under the general supervision of a Security Supervisor, the unarmed Security Officer will provide physical protection for persons and safeguarding of property on the Rush University Medical Center (RUMC) Campus. The security officer will report and document infractions of rules, regulations and policies of RUMC; and violations of federal, state and local laws and/or ordinances. The security officer will exemplify the RUMC missions, visions and values and act in accordance with RUMC policies and procedures. Other information: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: u2022 High School graduate or GED. Previous hospital security experience preferred but not required. u2022 Valid driveru2019s (Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin) license required. u2022 Must have a prior driving record deemed acceptable to RUMC based upon the results of a Motor Vehicle Report check conducted by Human Resources. u2022 Must possess and be responsible for maintaining current Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC). International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (u201cIAHSSu201d) certification required within six months of employment and maintained thereafter. u2022 Ability to handle confidential matters. Ability to exercise independent judgment, excellent customer service skills. u2022 Must be able to stand or walk during the majority, if not entire tour of duty and be able to withstand weather extremes for external assignments. u2022 Physically able to perform required responsibilities. Must be able to qualify for and successfully demonstrate the use and maintenance of departmental equipment. Must be able to wear body armor.
