This position performs complex archival functions involving project planning, processing archival collections, and public engagement, including:Leading or assisting in the development of archival procedures, standards, and workflows for the long-term preservation of permanent records, regardless of formatAppraising, transferring, accessioning, arranging, describing, and rehousing archival collections to ensure intellectual control and physical preservation, including monitoring environmental conditions and facilitating researcher accessProcessing archival collections, including backlogged accessions, and preparing descriptive tools and finding aids to enhance public accessProviding reference services, including guidance on access to confidential or restricted records in accordance with applicable laws and policiesCollaborating with records creators, records management staff, information technology personnel, and donors on the preservation and access of public records and manuscript collectionsThe Work Requires Considerable Knowledge OfArchival theory, standards, and best practicesArchival and library preservation standards, policies, procedures, and techniquesPrinciples and concepts of information governance across all phases of the records lifecycleOrganization and functions of government at the state and local levelsRisk mitigation and disaster preparedness for records as part of continuity of operations planningAbout UsThe mission of the Connecticut State Library is to preserve and make accessible Connecticut’s history and heritage and to advance the development of library services statewide.
