Job Requirements We are seeking a psychologist with a genuine passion for Veteran care. The ideal candidate will be skilled in a range of psychotherapeutic interventions and psychological assessment services. Responsibilities include: Providing individual, group, and family therapy, along with psychoeducational classes. Conducting comprehensive psychological assessments and developing effective treatment plans. Participating in peer review and ensuring the quality of psychology services. Facilitating referrals to specialty programs and community resources. Promoting patient independence through education and referrals. Training interns, practicum students, and trainees from various disciplines. Consulting with medical center staff to enhance patient care. Johnson VA Medical Center (OGJVAMC) is locatedat Iron Mountain, MI,in Michigan'sUpper Peninsula. The facility oversees six CommunityBased Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) located in Ironwood, Hancock, Marquette, Sault Ste. Marie, and Menominee, MI, and Rhinelander, WI. It also operates a Rural Health Outreach Clinic in Manistique, MI. OGJVAMC and itsCBOCs /Rural Outreach Clinic annually serve 20,000 Veterans. OGJVAMC has the largest geographic patient service area east of the Mississippi River, encompassing fifteen Michigan counties and ten counties in northeastern Wisconsin. It ishome to approximately 57,000 Veterans,over 26,000of whom are enrolled in VA’s health care system. OGJVAMC employs 686 staff at its main facility and CBOCs,including39 licensed physicians,217 nurses, and 62 mental health professionals that provide primary and selected secondary health care. OGJVAMC is a primary and secondary level care facility with 17 acute care, general medicine beds. The main facility has an Urgent Care Center, and collaborates with larger VA Medical Centers in Milwaukee and Madison, WI, as well as local community health facilities to provide higher-level emergency and specialty care services. OGJVAMC also provides rehabilitation and extended care, including palliative and hospice care, in its 40-bed Community Living Center. OGJVAMC is a leader in rural health care delivery in VHA, and employs state-of-the-art telehealth audio visual technology. Telehealth has greatly improved access to specialty care for rural Veterans by bringing these services closer to the Veterans’ homes. Area Info When winter is ushered in, snowmobiler's find a network of over 120 miles of trails tracing the county's interior, with access to the rest of the UP and into Wisconsin. Other winter activities include ice fishing, snowshoe, ice skating and even horse drawn sleigh rides. Winter events include, ice fishing tournaments, and snowmobile and ATV "ice" races. Continental Cup Ski Jump competition at Giant Pine Mountain's 123.5-meter jump attracts some of the world's best athletes for the longest running international ski jumping competition in North America.
