SummaryWe are looking for a part-time photographer to join and support our team from January through June , working 20 hours per week. There is a possibility of extending the position through December , depending on performance and departmental budget.The mode of work for this position is hybrid, requiring a balance of in-person and remote work. We will work with the photographer to develop a schedule for this position, but some nights and weekends will be required.As a photographer, you will work within a collaborative team within the Michigan Engineering Office of Communications and Marketing (C&M), which includes other photographers and video producers, writers, designers, a social media team, content and marketing strategists, web developers, dividual shoots will often be the sole responsibility of the photographer, though you may be paired with a writer or videographer from time to time. Assignments may come in from our weekly pitch meeting, requests from other units around the College, or via other existing projects, stories or campaigns. Project management and communication tools are used daily to keep track of assignments and communicate with team members.This position will report directly to the Multimedia Manager at C&M.Our team's current photography collections can be found here for your reference:Responsibilities*Capturing professional, compelling photography across a variety of assignments, including:Official faculty, staff or student portraitsEvent coverage, including candid photography and group shotsEditorial-style coverage of research developments, educational innovations, or other faculty or student activitiesMarketing-style photo shootsProcessing and editing photos and adding required metadataUploading and managing photos within a digital asset management systemEngaging with faculty, students, staff, alumni, and other stakeholders within assignmentsMaintaining a strong working knowledge of photography equipment and editing software (Our office primarily uses Canon / Adobe / Photo Mechanic)Collaborate with other communications and marketing staff through in-person or hybrid meetings, Slack, Asana, Google Drive, email and other communication and project management toolsPosition Breakdown:85% Taking, editing and distributing photos15% Team meetings, collaborating on projects, communicating with teammatesRequired Qualifications*2+ years of relevant experience in photography within a communications, marketing, journalism or related field.Can set and manage priorities, handle multiple assignments and deadlines, and operate in a flexible, professional manner.Open to receiving and giving feedback.Skilled using a variety of photography equipment and software, and able to adapt and learn new tools.Some flexibility in work schedule to accommodate occasional evening or weekend assignments.Desired Qualifications*An active driver's license for the option of travel to photo shoots.Modes of WorkPositions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
