Job Description

MaxLinear is seeking a Director of Application Engineering in support of highly integrated Storage Accelerator-based semiconductor product platforms. In this role, you will focus on the following:Drive the system specification, high-speed PCB design, platform designs, compression & security systems analysis, FAE training, product data sheets and application notes, and customer support of the productResponsible for new product designs by understanding customer architectures and driving design requirements to meet customer use cases, standards, and regulationsDrive system-level specifications leading to SoC and Software architecturePlatform design including PCB design, Signal Integrity, Power Integrity, Thermal design, qualificationEnsure that the system-level elements of next-generation MaxLinear solutions (SoC, Software, and board design) are optimized with the right trade-offsSupport lead customers with system-level integration, bring-up, and detailed training of our solutionsWork across cross-functional teams including FAE, Sales, R&D, and third parties from an engineering perspectiveHire, manage, develop, and retain teamExperience leading product development requiring hardware-software integration of storage systems products, preferably in the Enterprise, Hyperscale, or Whitebox marketsUnderstanding of storage products at the system level, including system-level knowledge of compression and security standardsExperience interacting with leading customers and partners and translating high-level customer requirements into system-level engineering requirements and designsExperience in high-speed board design, board bring-up, SI, PI, qualification, and product validationStrong knowledge of interconnects such as PCIe Gen 4/5, including electrical specification, protocol specification, and interoperabilityUnderstanding of system simulation tools, software, and lab equipment to assess current and future needsExperience managing a team including hiring, developing, and coachingMust be able to think ‘top-down,’ prioritize multiple projects, and lead customersStrong leadership, organizational, project management, recruiting/hiring, and mentoring skillsStrong written and oral communication skillsBS in Electrical Engineering or related +13 years of experience, or MS +11 years of experience, or Ph.D. +8 years of experienceMaxLinear has a Total Compensation philosophy which includes base salary and annual discretionary bonus eligibility and many positions also include stock-based compensation.MaxLinear expects to offer a starting base salary within the range of: $180,856 to $265,000AnnuallyWe offer competitive benefits designed to support employee health, welfare, and retirement and some highlights are: health care benefits, 401k savings plan, Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), and paid time off.The actual starting base salary will be determined by the match to certain role-related criteria such as educational degree(s) or equivalent, relevant work experience, skillset needed for the role, and geographic location; this is not an all-inclusive list as some roles may require unique skills or experience.Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to, and will not be discriminated against based on race, sex, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or protected veteran status.MaxLinear is a global, NASDAQ-traded company (MXL) where the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well.
