Job Description Gastroenterology u2013 Interventional Advanced Practice Provider Rush University Medical Center Chicago, IL Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Interventional Gastroenterology Advanced Practice Provider. Under the supervision and in collaboration with board-certified gastroenterologists, the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) delivers high-quality care to patients with digestive health concerns. This role is ideal for Nurse Practitioners (NPs) or Physician Assistants (PAs) with a passion for gastroenterology and chronic disease management. Duties & Responsibilities: + Monday u2013 Friday: 8:30am-5:00 PM; 36 hours of outpatient patient-facing care per week. No call required. + Outpatient Clinic Setting Clinical Care & Assessment u00b7 Conduct comprehensive health histories and physical exams focused on GI-related conditions. u00b7 Order and interpret diagnostic tests including labs, imaging, and GI-specific screenings. u00b7 Develop and implement treatment plans for conditions such as GERD, IBD, IBS, liver disease, and colorectal cancer screening. u00b7 Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state laws and clinical guidelines. Patient Education & Advocacy u00b7 Educate patients and families on GI conditions, lifestyle modifications, and preventive care. u00b7 Promote shared decision-making and informed consent. u00b7 Refer patients to community resources and support groups as needed. Care Coordination & Continuity u00b7 Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care coordinators to ensure seamless patient care. u00b7 Provide follow-up care and monitor chronic conditions. u00b7 Triage patient calls and messages, ensuring timely responses and interventions. Preferred Qualifications: o Applicants with 2+ years of previous Advanced Practice Provider experience in Gastroenterology or Surgery are preferred. Position Requirements: Nurse Practitioner: + Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process + Master of Science in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing practice with clinical specialty appropriate to position + Current certification by American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP) Physician Assistant: + Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Physician Assistant/Associate or eligible to obtain a licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) application process + Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate Program + Current certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care.
