Job SummaryMust have a very good knowledge of cement, cementitious, raw materials, and or concrete admixtures (CEMEX materials) that will allow him/her to support CEMEX operations in improving the performance of the products, troubleshoot quality problems, improve manufacturing process, and investigate CEMEX materials to develop improved products. The senior Chemist/Engineer will also support technical service managers through laboratory work to solve field related issues. Job Responsibilities Take charge of own safety in the day-to-day activities Perform any chemical test to CEMEX materials including XRF, XRD, microscopies, laser PSD etc. Supervise physical testing of the above-mentioned materials, which requires good knowledge of the tests. Supervise the accuracy of the work of junior staff. Train junior staff on CEMEX materials matters Qualifications Bachelor’s in chemistry, engineering or related field Master or PhD in any CEMEX materials areas is ideal Professional Certification: Not required Experience: 6 years required in CEMEX materials Can be reduced if post graduate studies in the area Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Specialized knowledge: CEMEX materials, their manufacturing process, chemistry, and performance. Skills: o Analytical o To promote solvency on complex problems o To develop new testing methods. o To research literature on relevant matters o To set up new, complex equipment and develop testing procedures on that equipment. Abilities: o Promotes teamwork o Communicates with other CEMEX labs or scientific institutions o Creates and corrects reports in timely manner o Mentors and teaches other CTC staff o Can represent CTC in outside meetings o Can direct the work of exempt employees. o Can interact with CEMEX directors with no supervision. Working Conditions Mostly indoors, in temperature-controlled environment.
