Under the ownership and operation of Guillory Oil Co., Gil's is a branch of C-Stores located throughout Louisiana.Job Summary:We are seeking a friendly and customer-oriented Deli Clerk to join our team. As a Deli Clerk, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and preparing food items accurately and efficiently. This is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced retail environment.Responsibilities:Greet customers with a warm and friendly demeanorPrepare and serve deli items such as sandwiches, salads, hot foods, and grab-and-go products.Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary deli counter, food prep areas, and equipment.Follow all food safety, handling, and sanitation guidelines (e.g., temperature checks, labeling, rotation).Provide friendly, efficient customer service at the deli counter.Operate slicers, ovens, fryers, and other deli equipment safely.Keep shelves and coolers stocked with fresh deli products throughout the day.Take customer orders accurately and handle transactions as needed.Monitor inventory levels and inform supervisors when supplies or ingredients need restocking.Package, label, and date deli products for display and sale.Assist with daily opening/closing duties, including cleaning, restocking, and equipment checks.Work collaboratively with store staff to ensure smooth operations and a positive customer experience.Requirements:Education & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not always required)Previous deli, food service, or retail experience is a plus but not requiredBasic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices (training often provided)Skills & AbilitiesStrong customer service and communication skillsAbility to operate deli equipment (slicers, fryers, ovens) safely after trainingBasic math skills for handling transactions and measurementsAbility to follow recipes, portion standards, and store proceduresGood time management and ability to work in a fast-paced environmentPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periodsCapability to lift, carry, or move items up to 25-40 lbsAbility to bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks (slicing, prepping, cleaning)Work HabitsReliable, punctual, and able to work independentlyComfortable working in a team environmentWillingness to follow health, safety, and sanitation regulationsFlexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidaysWe offer competitive pay and benefits, including opportunities for career advancement.
