Summary: Chaplain will support mission of the institution by providing timely, high quality spiritual care to patients, families, friends, and staff, providing in-service and student instruction; participating in research, maintaining collegial relationships with other faculty/staff, and contributing to the larger community. Other information: Required Job Qualifications: u2022 Masteru2019s Degree in: Theology, Pastoral Studies, Religion, Divinity, Pastoral Counseling, NACC, APC or NAJC Board Certification or eligible to apply for certification u2022 Ecclesiastical Endorsement or Pastoru2019s Letter of good standing. u2022 Completed Clinical Pastoral Education, Level I & II u2022 Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook. u2022 Self-reflective, well-grounded in a relationship with God, self/others. u2022 Spiritual and emotional maturity reflected in self-awareness and ability to use strengths and limitations effectively in ministry. u2022 Demonstration of ability to articulate medical/ethical issues. u2022 Resourceful in knowing how culture, ethnicity and religious beliefs impact an individualu2019s suffering and healing. u2022 Integrity an identity that respects all faith traditions. Sensitivity to cultural, religious and ethnic diversity. u2022 Strong spiritual assessment capabilities. Ability to articulate a pastoral theology that is both contemporary and functional. u2022 Serves as an effective member of the interdisciplinary team. u2022 Utilizes systems thinking. Responsibilities: u2022 Provides spiritual services to patients, families and staff u2022 Participates in on-call and provides on-call spiritual crisis intervention to patients, families and staff. u2022 Facilitates with others their search for meaning in the experience of life transitions, inclusive of, but not limited to suffering, loss and grief. Helps others apply their own values in decision-making. u2022 Participates in IDT meetings & on hospital committees; taking leadership as appropriate. u2022 Documents in EMR spiritual assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation with all patients. u2022 Responds to patient's needs in a holistic manner consistent with the person's age and developmental level. u2022 Intervenes in chronic and acute situations with an ability to prioritize and problem solve. u2022 Provides for the sacramental & spiritual services needs of patients, family members and staff. u2022 Works with parish ministers and pastors for the good of the patient and family members when indicated or as appropriate. u2022 Participates in ongoing educational opportunities e.g., supervision, conferences or courses. u2022 Contributes to meeting the fluctuating staffing needs of the Department as evidenced by flexibility in own assignments and work schedules.
