POSITION SUMMARY:World Relief Western Washington seeks a dedicated early childhood professional and family advocate for our home visitation program- Early Learning and Family Support (ELFS). The program serves local refugee, asylee, and immigrant families with children ages 5 years of age, offering culturally relevant and trauma-informed services that promote kindergarten readiness and family engagement. The home visitor will meet with families at their homes and provide individualized early learning activities that strengthen kindergarten readiness skills in the children, and support parents with needed resources and coaching to be their child’s first teacher. The home-visitor will also facilitate family and community engagement opportunities, and access to various community resources for the improved wellbeing & resilience of children and their families in the program.ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:Work closely with families and children who have experienced trauma and displacement, helping them navigate these changes and challenges with a playful curriculum that engages and empowers children and their parents. Communicate closely with families and children, and carefully assess the needs and create a personalized learning plan for children and the parent’s engagement, to ensure the best early learning experience, social-emotional learning support, and strengthening of kindergarten readiness skills. Plan and implement daily lessons and activities following a curriculum, in a culturally relevant manner, engaging parents as the child’s teacher and supporting the continued learning at home led by parents, in-between the home visits. Plan and organize regular family engagement events and activities that facilitate sustainable social and community connections and resources for their child’s learning as well as family’s holistic wellbeing and resiliency. Provide information and assist families with connecting to community resources and support, including but not limited to basic needs, social systems and benefits navigation, child development screenings, ECEAP & pre-school, school registrations, summer programs, and other opportunities of learning and community support. Coordinate daily program planning, logistics, and scheduling in a timely and efficient manner ensuring the program requirements are met and families receive quality support. Continue to build and refine our early childhood curriculum with healing centered, evidence-based, and parent & child centered activities and approaches. Implement pre-/post-assessments and keep detailed records of results for each student. Collaborate with the Program Manager and other staff in refining the assessments, as needed. Collaborate with other team members and WRWW staff, following up on referrals and requests for resources for the potential/enrolled participant families. Continue to build the resources list and build connections with local organizations & partners to continue expanding services for refugee and immigrant families and children. Use internal tools and databases to track and update participant information and program details. Attend relevant trainings on Early childhood development, SEL, mental health and trauma-informed care. Work closely with the Program Manager and contribute to program budgeting, reporting and evaluation. Assist the Children & Family Programs team with work planning, services, and support with other planned program activities as needed. Inform the overall programming with insights and expertise in order to strengthen the programming to best serve our families and children in the community. Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field with at least 4 years of experience in the early learning field and direct service/teaching OR Bachelor's Degree in a Early Learning/Child development related studies with at least 2 years of experience in the early learning field (preferably direct teaching or home-based services). Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; additional language skills preferred especially Dari, Pashto or Spanish. Committed to continual professional development and skill development in MEL practices and methods. Must be able to establish strong relationships cross culturally. Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, collaboratively, and positively with students, volunteers, and other staff. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability and willingness to travel to participant homes. Valid Driver's license and ability to pass a driving record check. Current (or ability to quickly secure) CPR/First Aid Certification required. Individuals with lived immigrant/refugee experience strongly encouraged to apply.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Experience with understanding and helping families connect with community resources.Experience with successfully engaging parents and caregivers from various cultural backgrounds in their child’s early learning and development. Experience with kindergarten readiness, and social and emotional development and support. Experience with following and implementing a curriculum/lesson-plan, and individualizing it depending on the child's developmental level and need for support. Engaging with culturally diverse families, and supporting them with navigating language and cultural barriers in a respectful and productive manner; and using interpreter supports when needed. Ability to facilitate meaningful opportunities of social connection for children and families through family engagement events/opportunities. Experience with WAKids, and other early learning guidelines & best practices Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); and willing to use internal tracking applications.
