Join our team of seasoned professionals and become a part of the fabric of the New York food scene.Role and ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking a highly skilled and creative Cake Decorator with a passion for gourmet pastries and a strong artistic flair. This position requires extensive experience in cake decorating, icing techniques, and high-volume pastry production. The ideal candidate will integrate seamlessly into our pastry team to assist with daily preparation, decoration, and production of both large and small batch pastry items. A strong understanding of scratch baking, precision recipe execution, and consistent quality is essential to maintaining our high standards.Creatively decorate cakes, tarts, cupcakes, pastries, and special-order items to company standardsAssist with preparation and production of all required pastry and bakery items, including parfaits, bars, and cupcakesProduce daily in-house bakery items in accordance with established par levels and production schedulesMaintain accurate records of production and spoilage; adjust production levels as necessaryPackage, weigh, price, and label bakery items for saleMonitor and ensure product freshness, proper rotation, and visual appealImportant Disclaimer Notice:The described functions are among the essential job functions for this position but are not exhaustive of the essential functions of the job or of the tasks that an Associate may be required to perform. The employer reserves the right to revise this job description at any time and to require Associates to perform other tasks as circumstances or conditions of its business, competitive considerations, or the work environment change.Qualifications and RequirementsBasic understanding of pastry and baking techniques (e.g., creaming, kneading, whipping, portioning)6-12 months experience with cake decoratingKnowledge and use of cake decorating equipment, tools, icings, ingredients etcHands-on, flexible and highly responsiveAbility to safely operate kitchen equipment.Team player, able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Adherence to food safety and sanitation guidelines.Effective communication skills in English and SpanishAbility to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidaysPreferred SkillsBasic knowledge of Allergens and Non-Allergens.Must be able lift 25-50lbs throughout the shift.Must be able to report any other non-inventory issues that may arise.Must be able to withstand different temperatures throughout the shift. Hot and cold.Must be dressed for work.
