Job Description

Summary/General Description of Job: The Maintenance Painter paints walls, equipment, buildings, bridges and other structural surfaces, using brushes, rollers, and spray guns. The incumbent removes old paint to prepare surfaces prior to painting and mixes colors to obtain desired color or consistency. Essential Duties & Job Functions: u00a7 Paints and redecorates walls, woodwork and fixtures of an establishment. u00a7 Assesses surface peculiarities and specific preparation for various types of paint required for different applications including, metal, wood, concrete, sheetrock and epoxy-based coatings. u00a7 Prepares surface for painting by removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in nail holes and interstices and applying paint with spray gun or brush. u00a7 May mix colors, oils and other paint ingredients to obtain proper color or consistency. u00a7 Performs other related duties as assigned. May perform work in other classifications when incidental work is necessary to the accomplishment of the work assignment. Significant work in another job classification may be required if accompanied by any wage adjustments applicable. Accountable For: u00a7 The proper use of tools and equipment commonly used in the painting field. u00a7 Completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives. u00a7 Timely and cost-effective performance of duties. u00a7 Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work. u00a7 Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations. u00a7 Adherence to established company safety policies and good industrial and office safety practices. u00a7 Compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures and Personnel policies and procedures. u00a7 Having the ability to work well under pressure. Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations): Mandatory u00a7 Four yearsu2019 experience in the painting trade and thorough knowledge of paints, thinners, and lacquers. u00a7 Must be able to work at heights and have good color perception. u00a7 Must have and maintain hand tools of the trade to perform the normal work of the classifications. u00a7 Must obtain and maintain required explosives certifications when assigned to ordnance operations. u00a7 Must possess and maintain valid Washington State driver's license with acceptable driving record. u00a7 Must meet and maintain company physical and security requirements, including respirator qualification, and clearance eligibility when required. u00a7 Must be able to lift 50lbs. u00a7 Must possess good communication skills for a service team environment. u00a7 Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract. u00a7 U.S. Citizenship.
