This is a part-time roleaveraging 20 hours per week, with workload fluctuating seasonally aroundJewish holidays.Position OverviewThe Kitchen Manager will oversee kitchen operations, maintain safety andcleanliness standards, manage food inventory, prepare meals forcommunity programs, and coordinate volunteers. This role also includespreparing meals for the Jewish Community School, managing the CABI Caf,and supporting holiday meal programs. Must have a commitment to CABIsvalues of community, hospitality, and tradition.ResponsibilitiesKitchen ManagementMaintain kitchen inventory and order food/equipment as needed.Train food preparation volunteers in food safety practices.Store food products in compliance with food safety practices.Ensure sanitation and safety standards in kitchen and dining areas.Confirm scheduling for kitchen use by CABI community and outside groups.Ensure kitchen is brought back to food safety standards after each use.Maintain licensing requirements (including Commercial Kitchen license).Oversee maintenance of kitchen appliances and equipment.Manage kitchen/dining room laundry with volunteer support.Ensure all meals are prepared according to CABIs Kashrut (Kosher)standards with food allergy information in mind and that all foods aremarked for food allergens.Jewish Community School Meal ChefShop for and prepare Wednesday dinners and snacks during the school yearfor an average of 60 adults and youth. This includes varied menu items.CABI CafOperate CABI Caf one day per week (Mondays, 10:00 a.m.12:00 p.m.) whichserves beverages to patrons. Includes setting up and cleaning diningareas, recruiting volunteers to assist with operations, maintaining cafequipment, and supplies of comestibles.Shabbat Preparation & Catered DinnersFor after Friday night services, ensure availability of grape juice,wine, and challah, find Oneg donation volunteers, and secure weeklysponsors. Organize monthly dinners (before Friday night services) for anaverage of 60 people, catered by an outside firm, including menus andguest list coordination.QualificationsExperience in food service, kitchen management, or catering preferred.Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.Strong organizational and time management skills.Ability to work independently and with volunteers.Knowledge or ability to learn about Kashrut and maintain a kosher stylekitchen.Flexibility to work varied hours, particularly during Jewish holidays.ServSafe Manager Certification or ability to obtain within six months ofemploymentSchedule & CompensationAverage 20 hours/week, with fluctuations around pensation $22,000 annually.How to Apply Please send a resume and cover letter to.
