Job Description

Nexstar Media Group Inc.'s station, KRON4, the San Francisco Bay Area's Local News Station, seeks an Associate Assignment Desk Editor. This position is responsible for finding, researching and confirming news content on broadcast and digital platforms. The Associate Assignment Editor monitors police scanners and social media feeds for breaking news, and answers phone calls and emails. The Associate Assignment Editor will also work with Assignment Editors and Executive Producers on assigning reporters and photographers. This position will work out of the KRON4 Newsroom located on the Embarcadero.This is a part-time, non-union, non-exempt position. Responsibilities + Tracks and confirms stories from all sources including government agencies, wire services, community groups, and social media + Works with Assignment Editors and Executive Producers to dispatch reporters and photographers to cover stories + Assists Assignment Editors in development, planning and follow-up of news stories + Participates in daily editorial meetings + Interacts with viewers/users via phone and social media sites + Performs other duties as assigned Requirements & Skills: + Bachelor's degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience + Some newsroom experience required + Excellent communication skills, both oral and written + Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, and other office equipment + Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously + Flexibility to work nights, mornings, weekend Compensation $25/hr+ commensurate with experience and skill level Nexstar Media Group, Inc.
