Job Title: Mechanical SuperintendentJob Description We are seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Superintendent with over 10 years of experience in mechanical construction, particularly in industrial, healthcare, or pharmaceutical settings. The candidate should have extensive knowledge in managing mechanical systems installations, including chillers, HVAC systems, duct work, and other equipment. This role requires the ability to read mechanical drawings and effectively manage union mechanical subcontractors to meet project schedules and budgets. Responsibilities + Report to the Project Director & Director of Operations with supervision by the Project Manager and Senior Superintendent. + Conduct daily job site inspections to ensure work completion in accordance with designs, specifications, and industry standards. + Complete construction reports and review contractor billing and in-service reports. + Provide evaluations of contractors and vendors during the active construction phase of the project. + Assist in the completion of project close-out reports. + Perform on-call duties for emergent weather-related outages. + Participate in bid evaluations and contractor selection processes. + Complete necessary training and qualify as a Tag Holder in the Industry Tagging System when required. + Assist with permit strategy development, review engineering deliverables, and prepare applications for submission and follow-up. + Support permitting work for all regulatory agencies at federal, state, and municipal levels. + Visit construction sites, complete site safety training, and adhere to site safety rules. + Supervise field work for employees or subcontractors as a field contractor supervisor. Essential Skills + Minimum of 10 years of professional experience as a Mechanical Superintendent for a general contractor or mechanical subcontractor. + Proficient in mechanical construction, particularly in industrial, healthcare, or pharmaceutical sectors. + Ability to read mechanical drawings and manage union mechanical subcontractors. + Experience in construction supervision and managing crews. + Capable of reading schematics and design drawings. + Knowledge of specification and contract enforcement, applicable technical standards, OSHA, and other regulatory statutes. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in field electrical supervision and protection cutovers. + Basic working knowledge of electric distribution systems and civil construction. + Knowledge of trade agreements, procedures, techniques, work methods, and standards in the construction industry. + Administrative skills for effective contractor progress monitoring, cost control, and contractual interpretation. Work Environment The role is based on-site at a pharmaceutical company known for its multiple labs and clean rooms. The candidate will be part of a mid-sized team and will have access to a designated trailer and office space on-site. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Somerset, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $77.00/hr.
