The Connecticut Orthopaedic Instituteu2019s Physician Assistant team is a growing department that covers inpatient joint reconstruction, spine, podiatry and acute fracture care. _Physician Assistant (PA) Description_ First and/or Second Assist in the Operating Room. Provides pre-operative and post-operative care to patients. Documents patient encounters, including but not limited to: admissions, brief operative, progress, event, procedure and discharge notes. Enters, reviews and updates orders. Collaborates as part of a multidisciplinary team to facilitate safe and appropriate patient disposition. In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Advanced Practitioners develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists. Advanced Practitioners provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provideru2019s practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.
