Rush University is seeking a paid part-time research assistant for David Mallinson, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at Rush University. Dr. Mallinson is leading a study that evaluates Family Connects Chicago, a universal nurse home visiting program that is available to all postpartum families who reside in the city. With an electronic health record-based birth cohort of all live deliveries at Rush University Medical Center over a three-year period, the study will examine how Family Connects Chicago participation impacts postpartum care receipt for birthing parents and well-child visit attendance for infants. Applicants should be interested in maternal and child health and/or public health service interventions. Key responsibilities include analyzing quantitative data (e.g., descriptive analyses, rudimentary regression analyses) with guidance from Dr. Mallinson, presenting findings in tables and figures, conducting literature reviews, and drafting and revising manuscript sections. Additionally, the research assistant will be a coauthor on manuscripts from this study. Summary: The Research Assistant is responsible for collecting information according to the research study protocols. The Research Assistant conducts assessments and collect data and/or biological samples from research studies. In addition, the Research Assistant assists in writing a variety of reports and publications. Required Job Qualifications: u2022 High school diploma/GED required. u2022 Entry level proficiency in Microsoft Office, including spreadsheets and databases. u2022 Detail oriented with high attention to accuracy. u2022 Strong written and verbal communication skills. u2022 Ability to develop rapport with a diverse pool of research participants. u2022 Ability to navigate sensitive topics and maintain confidentiality of participants. u2022 Ability to collaborate within multi-disciplinary team settings. u2022 May require 6-8 weeks training depending on study protocols. u2022 Availability to work evenings, overnight and weekends if called for under the study protocols. u2022 May require personal transportation to field location. Responsibilities: u2022 Recruits, screens, and schedules potential study participants. u2022 Writes and creates assessments utilizing standard research protocol. u2022 Assists in grant proposal writing. u2022 Assists in communications with researchers and members of the research community. u2022 Arranges and conducts experiments for research study, including explaining the goals of the study and arranging for the evaluation. u2022 Follows up by phone, email, and email with research colleagues. u2022 Participates in the preparation and delivery of presentations to disseminate study findings. u2022 Analyzes data and drafts data reports, manuscripts, and presentations. u2022 Utilizes approved procedures. u2022 Administers involved, systematic tests including the assessment and/or response. u2022 Helps maintain study procedure documentation. u2022 Prepares study related materials. u2022 Assists with data entry, cleaning, and guided analysis. u2022 Monitors experiments as required by study protocol. u2022 Maintains supply inventory. u2022 May utilize study-related devices and equipment as part of assessment procedures. u2022 Maintains study records and edits for completeness and accuracy. u2022 Attends regular team meetings. u2022 Troubleshoots field issues when necessary. u2022 Uses discretion to resolve issues when unplanned events arise.
