Summary: Meta Reality Labs is seeking a hands-on Manager, Color, Material, and Finish (CMF) and Advanced Manufacturing to lead our CMF and process engineering efforts for next-generation hardware. This leader will shape the technical vision, strategy, and execution for CMF, ensuring Metau2019s products stand out in quality, innovation, and user experience.CMF is a key differentiator in Metau2019s product portfolio, driving both aesthetics and performance. Our teamu2019s mission is to blend the craftsmanship of the traditional eyewear industry with the scale and rigor of consumer electronics, accelerating development cycles and building a capable supply base.This role will directly support Industrial Design (ID) teams to bring novel and innovative designs to fruition, enabling Meta to deliver exceptional, highly cosmetic hardware at scale. The Manager will be a critical partner in translating creative vision into manufacturable, high-quality products. Required Skills: Manager, CMF & Advanced Manufacturing Responsibilities: 1. Strategic & Technical Leadership 2. Define and drive the long-term vision and strategy for CMF and process engineering across Reality Labs hardware programs 3. Serve as the subject matter expert for CMF processes, materials, and finishes, providing technical guidance and mentorship to the team and broader organization 4. Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of CMF engineers, process engineers, and technical program managers 5. Cross-Functional Partnership 6. Partner closely with Industrial Design, Product Design Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Technical Program Management, Reliability, Operations, and Strategic Sourcing to ensure seamless integration of CMF and process engineering into the product development lifecycle 7. Advocate for the Industrial Design and CMF vision, ensuring it is authentically represented and integrated into all stages of product development 8. Collaborate with ID to enable the realization of new and novel designs, balancing creative intent with manufacturability and scalability 9. Process Development & Innovation 10. Oversee the development, validation, and deployment of advanced CMF and mechanical process technologies, including new materials, finishes, and manufacturing techniques 11. Champion Design for Manufacturability (DFM), process capability, and phase gate approaches to technology development 12. Drive continuous improvement, sustainability, and innovation in CMF and process engineering practices 13. Program & Operations Management 14. Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of CMF and process engineering milestones across multiple concurrent programs, including New Technology Introductions and Special Edition products 15. Manage program schedules, resource planning, risk identification, and mitigation strategies to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery 16. Oversee vendor engagement (ODM, JDM, CM), qualification, and development, including international supplier management and travel (up to 20%) 17. Communication & Stakeholder Management 18. Communicate program statuses, technical challenges, and risks to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders 19. Ensure program documentation, specifications, and validation plans are complete, current, and accessible 20. Foster a collaborative, transparent, and operational environment Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: 21. Bacheloru2019s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Design, or equivalent practical experience 22. 10+ years of experience in CMF, process engineering, or related fields within consumer electronics or high-volume manufacturing 23. 5+ years of experience in a technical leadership or management role, building and leading multidisciplinary teams 24. Demonstrated expertise in CMF processes, materials, finishes, and manufacturing technologies (e.g., injection molding, painting, plating, softgoods, surface treatments) 25. Proven experience with phase gate technology development, DFM, tooling, validation, and characterization processes 26. Demonstrated track record of successful vendor engagement (ODM, JDM, CM) and global supply chain management 27. Proven excellence in communication, planning, and cross-functional leadership skills Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: 28. Advanced degree (MS, PhD, MBA) in engineering, materials science, or related field 29. Experience in 1P and/or 2P product development, defining requirements and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders 30. Experience with highly cosmetic, consumer electronics parts and high-volume manufacturing 31. Demonstrated ability to drive innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement in CMF and process engineering 32. Experience working with Asia-based contract manufacturers and global teams 33. Ability to operate autonomously and maintain composure in times of ambiguity and rapid change 34.
