Description JOB SUMMARY The Security Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for the organizationu2019s security services, including both armed and unarmed operations. This role oversees contract performance for assigned job sites, ensures compliance with regulatory and training requirements, drives continuous operational improvement, and contributes to business development efforts. The Security Director ensures that security programs align with client expectations, organizational standards, and legal and industry requirements. As a key member of the DUS Leadership Team, the Security Director is expected to work collaboratively within the security function and cross-functionally to support organizational goals and enterprise-wide initiatives. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS + Bacheloru2019s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. + Minimum 10 years of progressive military, law enforcement, or private security experience, including oversight of multiple sites or complex operations. At least 5 years of experience in a senior management or leadership role. + Must be able to obtain a State of Alaska Armed Guard License within 30 days of hiring. + Valid driveru2019s license + Thorough understanding of the security industry requirements, directions, trends, and regulations + Proven leadership history with the ability to develop and energize high performing teams. + Innovative and strategic thinking capability; excellent influencing skills + Ability to combine strategic business and technical direction and translate concepts into actionable implementation plans. + Ability and willingness to travel, including on short notice and for extended duration. + Ability to work under pressure as well as work long and flexible hours to respond to urgent business or client needs and meet project goals and deadlines. + Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook + As a condition of employment, must be able to successfully complete a criminal background investigation, drug screen, and a post-offer physical/fitness for duty evaluation. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS + NRA, APSC or equivalent Firearms Instructor for Glock pistol, Remington 870 shotgun, and AR Platform + Pepper Spray Instructor + CEW (TASER) Instructor + Understanding of the Alaska Security Guard Regulations and Security Industry Requirements + Knowledge of the oil and gas industry + Knowledge of remote Alaska environments + Knowledge of the Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA), Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS), and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security requirements for applicable locations + Professional security certification from ASIS International (CPP, PSP, PCI), or equivalent ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS + Ensure security services are delivered in compliance with contractual obligations, DUS/client policies, and all applicable laws, regulations, and operational procedures. + Operational Leadership : + Oversee day-to-day security operations across multiple client sites, ensuring service delivery meets contractual and organizational standards. + Implement Courses-of-Action (CoA) to ensure the goals of DUS are achieved. + Help develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and performance metrics to improve efficiency, quality, and accountability. + Conduct regular site visits, inspections, and audits to evaluate service quality and compliance. + Lead incident response efforts, including coordination with clients, law enforcement, and internal stakeholders. + Ensure proper staffing levels, deployment strategies, and scheduling practices that support operational effectiveness + Contract Management & Client Relations: + Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned security contracts, ensuring strong communication, service delivery, and issue resolution. + Monitor contractual obligations, performance standards, and budget adherence. + Prepare reports, performance reviews, and quality assurance documentation for clients and leadership. + Lead contract renewals, scope adjustments, and negotiations in collaboration with executive leadership. + Build and maintain strong client relationships that support retention and contract growth. + Business Development: + Support business development activities through proposal writing, pricing strategies, and participation in client presentations. + Identify opportunities for service expansion within current accounts and emerging markets. + Provide subject-matter expertise on operations, compliance, and security best practices during RFP responses and business pitches. + Training & Compliance + Ensure security personnel meet federal, state, and local training and certification requirements including firearms qualifications, use-of-force policies, and ongoing refresher training. + Ensure organizational adherence to applicable laws, licensing requirements, and industry standards (e.g., POST, state armed security regulations). + Coordinate or deliver training (firearms, defensive tactics, de-escalation, emergency response, and other mandated topics) in accordance with requirements of the contract and other applicable guidelines. Ability to teach basic firearms training and have armorer skills to work on company weapons, order ammunition, targets and range supplies as needed. + Leadership & Administration + Provide direction, coaching, and mentorship to security managers, supervisors, and field personnel with a focus on professional integrated security solutions. + Lead workforce planning, performance evaluations, and professional development initiatives. + Develop and manage budgets/P&L, including labor forecasting, equipment purchases, and training expenditures. + Support internal investigations and disciplinary actions as needed. + Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement. + Collaborate as an active member of the DUS Leadership Team to ensure alignment, communication, and coordination across departments. + Ability and willingness to travel on short notice, and when needed, for extended periods of time to ensure DUS objectives are met + Ability and willingness to be a true team player that will readily perform other duties as needed to achieve DUS objectives.
