Art Therapist Summary Title: Art Therapist ID: 5716 Department: School-Based Services - Clay County Salary Range: N/A Employment Status: Full-time Description POSITION SUMMARY The Art Therapist provides individual and group art therapy services for adults and children who are receiving services with Beacon Mental Health in accordance with the standards of clinical practice established by the state of Missouri and the policies and procedures of Beacon. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: u2022 Provides individual and group therapy to clients, using appropriate treatment modalities and evidence-informed art-based interventions. u2022 Actively contributes to the functioning of the treatment team, informing members of any issues impacting plans of care in a succinct, organized and timely manner. u2022 Assesses individuals referred for individual art therapy, prioritizes high-need individuals when referrals exceed hours available to complete sessions. u2022 Contributes to treatment plans on individual clients based on client strengths with individualized, specific, measurable and time referenced goals in collaboration with the client. u2022 Documents provision of care/treatment in a timely manner, according to regulatory guidelines and professional practice. u2022 Consistently meets billable expectations. u2022 Follows established protocol to assure payment of services, including timely seeking of authorization and reauthorization of services. u2022 Provides follow-up for clients who do not follow through with services. u2022 Actively seeks to resolve issues, problems and concerns. u2022 Shows sensitivity to and appreciation of issues related to age, ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status, gender, and sexual orientation. u2022 Provides clinical services in a manner appropriate to the clientu2019s level of functioning. u2022 Accepts and responds appropriately to feedback from clients, staff, supervisors and referral sources. u2022 Actively seeks ongoing professional development and knowledge of new treatment modalities and evidence based practices. u2022 Participates in staff and clinical meetings as needed, supervision, and staff development trainings. u2022 Other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned by supervisor. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES) Education/Certifications: u2022 Masteru2019s degree in Art Therapy or Counseling u2022 ATR-Provisional, ATR or ATR-BC u2022 CPR/First Aid Certification required u2022 Valid Driveru2019s license and minimum state-required vehicle insurance Experience Required: u2022 1 to 3 years of prior experience required u2022 3 to 5 yearsu2019 experience preferred Required Knowledge: u2022 Knowledgeable of behavioral health diagnosis, trauma informed care and appropriate treatment modalities. u2022 Knowledgeable of HIPAA rules and how to protect client confidentiality. u2022 Knowledgeable of effective, research-supported art therapy applications applicable to mental health and trauma recovery settings. u2022 Extensive knowledge of the visual arts, human and creative development, counseling, and psychological theories and techniques.
