Job Description

Under direct supervision of the County Grants manager, works with grantees and State/Federal to research grants and write grants for county departments and provide assistance to local non-profit agencies. u00a0Assists the Grants Manager with revenues/expenditures of all county grants, submitting grant reports and payment requests, monitoring compliance with federal and state mandates, preparation of the annual audit documents, and providing technical assistance to grantees in budgeting/funds management processes.u00a0Essential Job Functions:u00a0u00a0Essential Job Functions: u00a0(Essential function, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. u00a0This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.)u00a0u00a0- Preparation of Agenda items for County Commissioner Meetings and assist in presenting completed grant applications and agreements, from county departments and externalu00a0entities, for Board approval.- Assist county departments in the grant proposal process including preparing grant applications, and coordinating with external entities to obtain county sponsorship of pass-through grants and/or letters of support.- Research and review various sources of grant funding from governmental agencies and private foundations; consult with other public entities, nonprofit agencies and private organizations.- Assist with the submittal of financial and performance reports and summaries, abstracts, documentation, guidelines, and correspondence related and required by the grants.- Assist in preparing grant letters, documents, public notices, and correspondence; prepare a variety of fiscal, statistical, and administrative summaries and reports.- Assist with the creation and maintenance of grant files including proposals, contracts, resolutions, amendments, fiscal and program reports and fiscal spreadsheets.- Respond to questions and concerns regarding preparation of grant proposals and grant compliance.- Assist in the preparation of contracts and resolutions.- Monitor Federal, State and Foundation funding cycles.- Operate modern office machines and equipment including PCs, printers, copiers, scanners, calculators, and fax machines; routinely use a full range of word processing and spread sheet software applications.- Adhere to safe work practices and procedures.- Attend workshops, conferences and classes to increase professional knowledge.- Assist special districts and jurisdictions with grant budgeting and grant reporting (e.g. public health, drug court, etc.)Performs other duties as assigned or requiredQualifications:u00a0Minimum Qualifications:u00a0Associates Degree or equivalent AND minimum of two (2) years of grants or related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.u00a0Knowledge and Skills:u00a0u00a0- Knowledge of grant funding sources.- Knowledge of all aspects of grant administration.- Knowledge of Federal, state and local rules and regulations pertaining to grant management.- Skill in research, creating and submitting grant applications.- Skill in coordinating and conducting grant activities.- Skill in conducting accurate data input and maintaining records and files.- Skill in ensuring compliance with all Federal, state and local grant fund requirements.
