A Maintenance Specialist is responsible for keeping a facility and residential property operating and repairing any problems when they are discovered before they have a chance to worsen. A Maintenance Specialist will usually be required to perform various repair tasks around a facility. Some other tasks a Maintenance Specialist may be called upon to do include: Maintenance Worker Responsibilities: u00b7 Conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment. u00b7 Performing preventative maintenance. u00b7 Handling basic repairs and maintenance. u00b7 Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary. u00b7 Diagnosing mechanical issues and correcting them. u00b7 Repairing machines, equipment, or structures as necessary. u00b7 Applying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems, such as using a sealant on a flat roof u00b7 Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries u00b7 Painting the building when old paint has become faded or chipped Maintenance Worker Requirements: u00b7 Proven maintenance experience. u00b7 High school diploma or general education degree (GED). u00b7 Related degree from a technical college. u00b7 Skilled in the use of hand and power tools. u00b7 Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts. u00b7 Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary. u00b7 Ability to use standard tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches. u00b7 Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices. u00b7 Experience performing routine maintenance. u00b7 Strong organizational and follow-up skills. u00b7 Eye for detail. u00b7 Professional presentation and attitude. u00b7 Ability to maintain focus while working individually. u00b7 Strong time management skills.
