Storeroom Specialist Procurement & Support Services Job Description: Move forward with us At NJ TRANSIT, you'll join us in transforming the third-largest transportation agency in North America. Summary Under the direction of the Central Stores management, you would be responsible for receiving and storing inventory stock items, issuing parts and materials to Newark shops and field locations and maintaining an orderly stockroom and storeroom. Roles and Responsibilities + Maintain stock inventory records to ensure that stock levels remain within the specified minimum and maximum amounts utilizing a computer as required. + Prepares requisitions for both stock and special-order items as required within one working day of the established need for the item. + Receives and places into inventory all parts and materials delivered before the close of the working day on which they are received. + Issues parts and materials to shop personnel on a timely basis. Computes work order forms, parts issue forms, and updates inventory, including cycle counting. Assists mechanical personnel in identification of parts as required. + Issues tools to mechanical personnel as required and accounts for their use and return. + Maintains a neat, clean, safe and orderly stock room and storeroom. Ensures that all materials are stored in their assigned locations. + Issues stock items to locations. + Assists in loading and unloading trucks. Qualifications and Experience + Demonstrated ability, in a working environment, to maintain detailed written records. + General Knowledge of automotive and bus parts and the ability to understand and use manufactures' parts manuals. + Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with other individuals in the work-place. + Proven ability to work with deadlines and complete work assignments within the prescribed time. + One year experience as materials handler in a computerized distribution center or equivalent, qualified forklift driver, hazardous materials handler, and loading and unloading of trucks. + Ability to read and write English clearly.
