JOB DESCRIPTION College/Career Exploration II and III - Saturday AcademyWhere: IN PERSON at 610 W 112th Street, New York, NY 10025When: October 2025 - June 2026Day/Time: Saturdays Part Time/ Hourly Paid$45-$55 Per HourLiberty LEADS seeks two instructors to facilitate our weekly College/Career Exploration II and/or III courses on Saturdays for high school juniors and seniors. The College/Career Exploration courses are designed to assist high school students in becoming oriented, prepared and ready to transition into higher education or alternative post-secondary plans. These introductory courses will expose students to topics that will assist them in developing college and career readiness skills including but not limited to college level writing and resume building. In addition, instructors will be tasked with helping students demystify the admissions and financial aid processes. Using the foundation established by College Exploration I, College Exploration II and III will expand on key components and units discussed to better understand and apply students interests and academic profiles to the postsecondary process. Students will utilize this class to develop components of their college applications in conjunction with the work they will be doing with the College and Career Success Advisor. Instructors must have experience engaging students in person or using Zoom if circumstances dictate changing from in person to online classes. Curriculums and daily lesson plans are required for review and approval. Weekly lesson plans must be submitted for review one week prior to class. Instructors are expected to deliver a final project to showcase during our end of year celebration.The Liberty LEADS Program at Bank Street College is a college access and college success program serving students throughout New York City. We offer a comprehensive academic program and a wide range of resources for students in grades 5 through 12, Monday through Saturday, for 10 months of the year. Liberty LEADS works to ensure that youth with few economic resources have access to the supports necessary to realize their potential, make positive contributions to society, and smoothly make the transition into college or an entry-level career. The program is guided by the principle that all children have gifts, talents, and great potential and can contribute to one another's social and academic growth.Responsibilities:Create, adapt and implement a college exploration curriculum for groups of 10 students online or up to 25 students in personEngage students and modify curriculum according to needs of students and the medium being used with assistance from Liberty LEADS High School AdvisorIf circumstances require us to switch to online classes, Instructors must have reliable wifi and computers and must have cameras on at all times and appear on camera in order to persuade students to communicate and participate in the same wayManage in person and remote classrooms using positive behavior management strategiesMeet regularly with the Liberty LEADS Middle School Coordinator for supervision and debriefingPrepare presentation with students for 'end of year' celebrationProvide lesson plans to supervisor one week in advance for approval..Qualifications:Experience with high school youth working on the college application processExperience with students who wish to pursue another post-secondary paths (job training/workforce)Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree in Higher Education, Guidance Counseling or Social Work PreferredABOUT US Bank Street is a leader in education, a pioneer in improving the quality of classroom practice, and a national advocate for children and their families.
