Job Description u2022 Design, develop, and seamlessly integrate the full audio software stack, with a primary focus on Android/AAOS audio frameworks, alongside Linux and DSP environments for advanced invehicle infotainment systems. u2022 Lead system-level debugging, root cause analysis, and strategically optimize audio software for unparalleled performance, minimal latency, power efficiency, and superior sound quality across all platforms, including Android. u2022 Design and implement robust, safety-critical automotive audio features such as Acoustic Vehicle Alerting Systems (AVAS), chimes, and horn, ensuring precise inter-ECU communication and synchronization. u2022 Develop critical audio drivers and firmware and contribute significantly to the architectural design and evolution of the audio software stack, particularly as it pertains to Android/AAOS integration. u2022 Work cross-functionally with hardware, acoustics, UX/UI, and other software teams, maintaining comprehensive technical documentation and championing best practices in audio software engineering. u2022 As a Staff Audio Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in delivering world-class audio performance and safety for Ford's future EVs. If you need assistance and/or a reasonable accommodation due to a disability during the application or recruiting process, please send a request to learn more about how we collect, keep, and process your private information, please review Insight Global's Workforce Privacy Policy: Skills and Requirements u2022 5+ years of progressive experience in audio software development, with a significant portion dedicated to embedded systems or an automotive context. u2022 Expert-level proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems development. u2022 Extensive and direct experience with Android/AAOS audio frameworks (e.g., AudioFlinger, Audio HAL, AAudio) is essential. u2022 Experience with Linux audio subsystems (e.g., ALSA, PulseAudio, PipeWire) is also highly valued. u2022 Proven ability to debug and resolve complex issues across software and hardware boundaries in challenging embedded environments. u2022 Solid understanding of automotive electrical/electronic architectures, communication principles, and embedded systems design. u2022 Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with a proactive, self-starter approach, strong initiative, and a results-oriented mindset to engineering challenges. u2022 Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively with diverse cross-functional teams. u2022 Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Audio Engineering, or a closely related technical field. Bonus u2022 Familiarity with safety-critical software development processes and standards (e.g., ISO 26262). u2022 Experience with inter-ECU communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, SOME/IP, gPTP, or similar automotive networking technologies. u2022 Knowledge of various audio codecs and post-processing algorithms u2022 Experience working on automotive audio use cases (such as ECNR, voice assistant etc.) u2022 Experience working on audio certification for car projection technologies (e.g. Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto). u2022 Prior experience with automotive System-on-Chips (SoCs) and their audio hardware abstraction layers. u2022 Demonstrated experience in vehicle bring-up, integration, and validation activities. u2022 Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) concepts and principles. u2022 Familiarity with Rust programming language
