Job Details Description Pay Range: starting at $ an hour (depnding on experience) Position Summary: Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Full Circle Program Director, the Specialty Program Instructor is responsible for the training of technical and tactical skills, rules and character development necessary for the particular program s/he is teaching. Essential Functions: Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility Represent the YMCA and maintain good communication with parents and/or participants Lead a high quality class as directed by the Senior Program Director to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals Provide an energized, fun, safe and educational class Learn members’ names and encourage member interaction Begin and end class on time Exhibit a true team player attitude through support, concern and subbing for team members Keep accurate class attendance records Report to MOD or supervisor immediately - and document - any accident/injury/incident Return all equipment to proper place (, mats, batteries, bands, etc.) Maintain working knowledge of wellness and YMCA trends to provide effective information and training to members Attend all staff meetings and training sessions Qualifications Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA An enthusiastic personality with the desire to serve members, volunteers, guests, participants and staff to create a culture of service within our Centers Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is required Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends Minimum 18 years of age High school diploma or equivalent preferred Minimum two years' experience related to area of specialty Certifications and Training Required: Before start of 1st shift: New Hire Orientation training Within two weeks of hire: Basic Life Support, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen TRIAD training within 14 days of hire While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand; walk on uneven surfaces; sit; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. The employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level is usually minimal to moderate.
