The role requires executing stories from conception through completion, with solid experience shooting, editing, and reporting clickworthy video content, and conducting in‑depth research and pre‑production. Base pay range $85,000.00/yr - $110,000.00/yr Responsibilities • Produce and shoot new‑stand‑up videos for the California Post’s digital platforms, covering national news, Hollywood, business & innovation, sports, tabloid fare, and societal trends. • Script and pitch story ideas, develop shot lists, and fly D‑SLRs of all angles from field sites to studio setups. • Edit footage using Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop) to meet tight deadlines, adding flourish and pacing that suits online audiences. • Work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, fun environment, ensuring high editorial standards and accuracy. • Experiment with the latest digital video formats, keeping the California Post’s content fresh, fearless, and attention‑grabbing. • Manage sound and camera gear, including Ronin RS4 Pro stabilization, and troubleshoot technical issues on the fly. Qualifications 5+ years’ experience creating video for digital platforms. Proficiency in shooting DSLR cameras with interchangeable lenses and monitoring sound. Experience operating a DSLR on a Ronin RS4 Pro. Background in journalism with the ability to pitch, produce, and script stories. Strong news judgment, excellent writing, knowledge of current events, and people‑skills. Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects). Awareness of latest digital‑video formats and trends, independent of TV. Strong aesthetic eye and cinematic tendencies. Collaborative approach and ability to work accurately in a fast‑paced environment. Attention to detail and commitment to journalistic accuracy and fairness. Familiarity with California a plus.
