Job Description The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The Support Services Bureau oversees commands that maintain the Department's Fleet (Fleet Services Division), secures property (Property Clerk Division), maintains and disseminates Department records (Central Records Division), and processes the printing of documents for the Department (Printing Section). Fleet Services Section is responsible for the upkeep and/or repair of all NYPD vehicles. Under the general direction of the Assistant Commissioner, Fleet Services Division, with some latitude for independent judgment, action and decision-making, the Director of Fleet Services Division, will assist in the management of the technical and administrative operations of the Fleet Services Division which is comprised of uniformed and civilian professionals, administrative and technical personnel. The Director will assist the Assistant Commissioner who is responsible for maintaining and accounting for the Department's diverse fleet, and a related perpetual inventory of parts and equipment, including procurement, maintenance and relinquishment of vehicles. and ensures all Department vehicles are in the safest working order. Serves as an advisor to Assistant Commissioner on all fleet related matters; maintains liaisons with federal, state, and city agencies regarding laws and safety regulations for motor vehicles; and also serves as the Department's technical expert on issues impacting fleet services operations and administration.
