Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Stamford, Connecticut. This role offers a blend of onsite and remote work, supporting our accounting team with various financial processes and reporting. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of accounting principles, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work collaboratively to meet deadlines. Responsibilities: u2022 Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate financial records. u2022 Reconcile bank transactions, including store cash pickups and change orders, ensuring alignment with the general ledger. u2022 Assist with month-end adjustments, correcting errors, and interfacing data to the general ledger. u2022 Monitor and reconcile sales, monthly merchant statements, and credit card settlements to cash receipts. u2022 Perform daily error correction tasks to ensure accuracy in financial reporting. u2022 Collaborate with retail operations to address cash memo variances from store managers. u2022 Support the annual external audit by preparing audit schedules and responding to request items. u2022 Contribute to various accounting tasks and responsibilities as needed during team member absences. Requirements u2022 In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and strong analytical skills. u2022 Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience with Pivot tables. u2022 Familiarity with major accounting software packages; experience with large systems. u2022 Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited institution. u2022 At least one to three years of experience in accounting roles requiring attention to detail. u2022 Ability to work independently while taking ownership of assigned tasks and deliverables. u2022 Strong attention to detail and aptitude for systems-based accounting. u2022 Willingness to take on new challenges and adapt to evolving responsibilities.
