The Die Cutter is a machinist responsible for setting up and running a machine used to cut different shapes using a die. The die cutting machine uses a combination of rollers and cutting plates to put pressure on the die and push it through a medium to create a shape with neat and precise outlines. A die cutter can be a machine operator or an experienced programmer with at least 3 years experience in a similar role. Must be able to train on the first shift. Responsibilities and Duties: • Select die work to be performed as prioritized by the supervisor or due dates, in order to fulfill daily production requirements. • Use specialized equipment, including microscope, ultrasonic ripping and polishing machines, wire shaping, polishing and sizing machines, and carbide die sizing and polishing machines. • Follow written and verbal procedures for refurbishing used dies to original specifications. • Collect drawing dies needing refurbishing and return when completed. Record all pertinent information. • Maintain daily production sheets.• Maintain good communication with supervisor by keeping him/her informed of quality, maintenance, and safety or productions issues. • Obtain supervisory approval for any deviations from standard procedures.
