Primary Duties: The Office of the Attorney General, Energy and Natural Resources Division is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal to support attorneys with case preparation, legal research, document management, and administrative tasks. Experience in administrative contested cases and civil litigation involving state employment matters would be helpful but not required. This position provides legal and administrative support throughout all stages of litigation and administrative proceedings, ensuring compliance with applicable statutes, rules, and deadlines. Essential Functions: + Assist with administrative contested cases, including preparation for hearings before administrative hearing officers or boards. + Support civil litigation matters in state and federal courts, from case initiation through resolution. + Draft, format, and review legal documents such as pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and correspondence. + File documents with courts and administrative agencies, including electronic filing, in compliance with procedural rules and deadlines. + Conduct legal and factual research related to natural resource and water law, administrative law, rulemaking, and civil and administrative procedure. + Organize, maintain, and manage case files and exhibits, including hearing and trial notebooks. + Track deadlines, hearings, and litigation schedules to ensure timely compliance. + Summarize investigative files, depositions, transcripts, and hearing testimony. + Coordinate with agency staff, witnesses, opposing counsel, and administrative bodies. + Assist with hearing and trial preparation, including witness lists, exhibit preparation, and logistics. + Perform general administrative duties related to case management, including scheduling, document management, and record retention. + Perform other tasks and duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: + Associateu2019s or Bacheloru2019s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field, or equivalent experience + Paralegal certification preferred. + Experience supporting administrative law proceedings and/or civil litigation preferred + Knowledge of state employment law, administrative procedures, and civil litigation processes. + Familiarity with court rules, administrative hearing procedures, and e-filing systems. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office. + Excellent organizational, analytical, and time-management skills. + Strong written and verbal communication skills. + Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
