Position Summary The primary function of the OR technician is to assist in equipment set-up and maintenance of the operating room to ensure proper supply levels are adhered to. The OR tech also assists in “scrubbing in” for cases by holding retractors, extremities, or other equipment as indicated by the surgeon. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Under general supervision Responsible for setting up each OR case based on surgeon preferences and applicable specialty standards ( i.e. AORN, ASI, Anesthesia) including but is not limited to the correct OR bed, correct tables, and extra equipment (TV/ Endo Towers, fishing pole, captain’s chair, etc.) is available in the room Assists with the turnover of the OR room by bringing in and removing equipment from the OR rooms Supports the OR team break down and turnover each room: wipe down anesthesia machines, take dirty instruments to Central Sterile for appropriate cleaning, removes trash, notifies EVS and then set up the room for the next case At the discretion of provider, Scrubbing in to old retractors or cameras for various cases including but is not limited to: Total joints, Vaginal hysterectomies, Laparoscopic Cases, Hartmann resections and Mastectomies (simple/ partial) etc. Transports patients into and from the Operating Room Assists with positioning of patients as directed by Surgeon Assists in picking cases to ensure all appropriate supplies are available for the designated procedure Notifies leadership or designee when equipment is in need of repair Ensures supplies ) are available according to predetermined par levels in areas of the OR department Monitors temperatures (Blood refrigerator, bone freezer, fluid and blanket warmer) Ordering of supplies for the inner core Functions as a runner as needed to obtain equipment and/or supplies from various departments to include but not limited to Central Sterile, Laboratory and Pharmacy Ensures Oxygen and CO2 tanks are full and usable. Replaces as needed. CEnsures cleanliness of the OR Department Takes call as needed per the department policies Adheres to all Core Values (Compassion, Pursue Excellence, Cooperation and Collaboration, Upholds Honesty, and Supports Innovation).
