This 113,000 square foot building, which opened in March 2014, supports the college’s athletic program, physical education & recreation therapy departments, and new campus recreation department. The fitness center consists of a 15,000 square foot fitness floor including cardiovascular machines, strength equipment and free weight room; 4 group exercise studios,1/10 mile indoor running track, theCyclone Center, including 3-court field house with basketball, volleyball, and badminton;4 lap lane aquatic center including a whirlpool, expansive locker rooms each with a steam room, family changing rooms, Tropical Smoothie Café,a Pro Shop, and open lobby spaces with seatingPrevent and respond to emergency situationsIdentify and report any malfunctions or irregularities of equipment or facilityAttend regularly scheduled staff meeting and in service trainingEnforce all rules and regulationsProvide customer serviceLifeguard according to Facility, State Code and Lifeguard Training standardsSupervise proper use of swimming pools along with supporting facilitiesMaintain current certifications in lifeguard training, First Aid for the professional rescuer, and CPR for the professional rescuerPerform pool maintenance duties as requiredOther duties as requiredResponsibilitiesPrevent and respond to emergency situationsIdentify and report any malfunctions or irregularities of equipment or facilityAttend regularly scheduled staff meeting and in service trainingEnforce all rules and regulationsProvide customer serviceLifeguard according to Facility, State Code and Lifeguard Training standardsSupervise proper use of swimming pools along with supporting facilitiesMaintain current certifications in lifeguard training, First Aid for the professional rescuer, and CPR for the professional rescuerPerform pool maintenance duties as assignedOther duties as requiredMinimum Requirements:Current American Red Cross, Ellis, YMCA or equivalent Lifeguard Training certification is requiredFirst Aid, AED, and CPR-PR certifications are requiredPrevious lifeguard experience preferredCompetenciesTechnical CompetenciesBasic computer competencyProfessional CompetenciesAbility to perform all Lifeguard skills as required by American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Program.
