We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Tax Specialist to join our client in Napa. This role is responsible for preparing accurate tax returns, supporting clients with tax-related questions, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate is analytical, client-focused, and comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment. Key Responsibilities• Prepare individual, business, and fiduciary tax returns with accuracy and efficiency• Review financial records, receipts, and documentation to ensure completeness• Research tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for clients• Communicate with clients to gather information, clarify questions, and provide updates• Identify potential tax credits, deductions, and strategies to minimize tax liability• Assist with tax planning throughout the year• Maintain organized and confidential client files• Respond to IRS or state notices and assist with audits as needed• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow during peak seasons Qualifications Experience preparing individual and/or business tax returns• Strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations• Proficiency with tax preparation software (e.g., Drake, Lacerte, ProSeries, TaxSlayer)• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills• Strong communication and customer service abilities• Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines• CPA, EA, or tax certification preferred but not required (depending on client needs)
