Job Description

The Forklift and Truck Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing company forklifts, delivery trucks, and other material‑handling equipment. This role ensures all equipment is safe, reliable, and operating efficiently to support daily warehouse and delivery operations.Position Responsibilities:Responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:Perform preventive maintenance of all vehicles and forklifts following manufacturer guidelines and company standards.Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and other issues and complete necessary repairs.Demonstrate a good working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, engine, brake systems and tire/wheel changes.Respond to equipment breakdowns quickly to minimize downtime.Assist with prioritizing repairs based on operational needs.Order and track parts needed for repairs and maintenance work.Maintain accurate records of service work, parts used, and inspection results.Communicate effectively with operations and warehouse teams regarding equipment status.Ensure all forklifts and vehicles meet OSHA, DOT, and company safety standards.Ensure work area and methods meet safety requirements. Work with vendors and service providers as needed.Stay familiar with and learn new technical information and techniques. Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Excellent mechanical repair skills. Strong communication skills, organizational skills, problem solving skills, and attention to detail.Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and service instructions.Basic computer skills for logging work orders and maintenance records.Valid driver’s license required (CDL a plus but not required).Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Ability to perform physical requirements, including lifting more than 50lbs, and frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and use of hand tools.Experience as a forklift, diesel truck, heavy equipment, or automotive mechanic preferred.Shepley Wood Products is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
