About the Assistant Principal of Operations Role: The Assistant Principal of Operations (APO) is a school-based leadership position, reporting to the Principal and accountable to the Director of Regional Operations, overseeing all operational functions required to run an efficient, thriving school. This individual will work to create a shared vision and lead the implementation and execution of clear operational systems focused on fulfilling the needs of students, families and school community stakeholders. The APO will also serve as the key liaison for the school with the regional operations, finance, human resources, data, advocacy/community engagement, development departments and external partners. The APO reports to the Principal. Ensure that feedback is focused on improving outcomes and experiences for studentsAssist with both student and staff recruitment and engagement- including events, home visits, calls home, and other determined and related requirementsKnow that your role, professional development, org wide meetings, etc. may require you to travel around Denver to other KIPP Campuses, our Home Office, or other KIPP or PD events Assist with other duties as assigned (such as but not limited to, lunch duty, arrival/dismissal duty, bathroom duty, hallway duty, school support duties, etc.) Day to Day OperationsDevelop, monitor and manage all daily operational systems. Systems include and are not limited to: Transportation Food Services Facilities Nursing Time Off Management Coverage and Guest Teachers Staff Duties Campus Schedule Audits and adjusts key operational systems to ensure routine effectivenessEnsure the front office runs safely and effectivelyHolds staff accountable to all daily operational systems Stakeholder Management Maintain positive and productive relationships with key stakeholders including Denver Public Schools partners and outside providers or vendorsMeet as needed with DPS providers such as Facilities Manager, Kitchen Manager and NurseWorks to productively navigate challenges and concerns with stakeholders. Proactively escalates to Director of Regional Operations as necessary Project ManagementMaintains project plans for all events and operational projects to ensure the operations team is working 4-6 weeks out in alignment with campus arc of the year Align with the Principal on project and event vision, scope and outcomesManage Dean of Operations to ensure deadlines for all events and projects are metLead project management for larger scope work such as enrollment, standardized testing and annual planningEvents and projects may include: Field Trips, Report Cards and Conferences, Family Events, Registration, Recruitment Events, Campus Celebrations, Graduations and End of Year Closeout Student Safety and Compliance Develop systems to ensure compliance on all safety systems and emergency operations plansServe as the lead of the school Emergency Team Ensure campus meets drill requirements according to deadlines and drill criteriaEnsure accurate documentation for 100% of health needs and medications with the DPS provided nurseEnsure front office systems maintain student safety and compliance with all federal and state laws at all times Finance and PurchasingServe as the budget manager (Principal is owner) for the campus and align with the Principal on all budget decisionsManage and monitor campus purchasing system in alignment with KIPP Colorado Fiscal policiesMeet all required purchasing approvals and fiscal policiesManage and monitor weekly credit card, bank deposit and invoice reconciliationEnsure campus has necessary supplies, equipment and materials Communication Develop and implement campus communication systems in alignment with the PrincipalEnsure family communication is consistent, clear and customer service orientedEnsures campus calendars are accurate, updated and available to staff and families Communicate effectively and appropriately with all KIPP Colorado families, students and staff Enrollment and Attendance Drive results to meet 100% enrollment by the first day of school and through October CountOwn and drive all campus student enrollment and recruitment efforts in alignment with the Director of Regional Operations and Denver Public Schools Manage and monitor attendance data from the Operations teamLead Attendance team and meetings to implement attendance systems to reach the goal of 96% average daily attendance for the campus Student Data and Technology Understand and manage Infinite Campus systems for all operational tasksEnsure 100% of students are accurately rosters and schedules in Infinite CampusEnsure that annual deadlines for scheduling and student information systems are metSupport KIPP Colorado Tech team systems for student devicesSupport operations team in providing Tier 1 tech and data support Operations Team Management Manage and coach Campus Operations team (Dean of Operations, Operations Coordinator etc) Lead operations team meetings and development Campus Leadership Serve as an active member of the campus leadership team Support leadership team priorities and decisions Own and drive operational results for the campus Drive operational training and professional development for campus inclusive of leadership teamCollaborate with the Assistant Principal of Culture on school wide systems and routines in alignment with the KIPP Colorado home office team Additional ResponsibilitiesParticipate in active presence and strategic supervision and monitoring to ensure student safety and engagement in rigorous learningEnforce positive behavior systemsAttend designated school functions outside of school hours (Back to School Night, Report Card Conferences, Community Events, etc.)Perform necessary support duties including (but not limited to) bus, lunch, and dismissal duties, chaperone field tripsParticipate in parent meetings, conferences, and periodic evening eventsDevelop strong relationships with the families of students through home visits, participation in school events and phone calls homeParticipate in daily duties (i.e. breakfast, lunch, dismissal) to support school operationsMaintain accurate records, grade books, and data tracking systems Role Level Specifics, Scope of Work, and Level of ResponsibilityFor more about how youll lead at this level, please visit the
