The Personal Care Aide will assist the elderly, convalescents, orpersons with disabilities with daily living activities in the person?shome or in a care facility. Duties performed at a place of residence mayinclude keeping house (making beds, doing laundry, washing dishes) andpreparing meals. The Personal Care Aide may provide assistance atnonresidential care facilities and may advise families, the elderly,convalescents, and persons with disabilities on nutrition, cleanliness,and household activities. Supervisory Responsibilities: ? None.Duties/Responsibilities: ? Administers bedside and personal care such asambulation and personal hygiene assistance. Prepares and maintainsrecords of client progress and services performed, reporting changes inclient condition to manager or supervisor. ? Assist the client withbathing and toileting as needed. ? Performs housekeeping duties such ascooking, cleaning, washing clothes and dishes, and running errands.Cares for individuals and families during periods of incapacitation,family disruption, and convalescence; providing companionship, personalcare, and help in adjusting to new lifestyles. ? Performshealthcare-related tasks such as monitoring vital signs and medicationunder the direction of registered nurses or physiotherapists. ? Plans,shops for, and prepares nutritious meals, and assists families inplanning, shopping for, or preparing nutritious meals. ? May transportclients to locations outside the home such as physicians? offices or onoutings, using private or public transportation. (Not mandatory) ?Collaborates with family members to provide bedside care. ? Instructs oradvises clients on issues such as household cleanliness, utilities,hygiene, nutrition, or infant care. ? Participates in case reviews,consulting with the team caring for the client, to evaluate the client?sneeds and plan for continuing services. Required Skills/Abilities: ?Must possess a strong service orientation, including active listening,critical thinking skills, and close monitoring of clients. ? Basicunderstanding of medical terminology. Education and Experience: ? Highschool diploma or equivalent required. ? Experience or a desire to carefor people and support them to live healthy lives. ? The ability toread, write, and communicate professionally. Physical Requirements: ?Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and lifting. ? Must be able tolift up to 50 pounds at times
