Database Developer (IT Assistant Level 1 Hourly) - Office of Computing Information Services GENERAL DUTIES IT Assistants perform entry-level professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically IT Assistants work in areas such as development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar based on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include resolving minor technology problems, monitoring activities, and maintaining documentation. They have latitude for independent initiative and judgment, under supervision. The Office of Computing Information Services at City Tech welcomes applications for a part-time position of Database Developer to join our team. This position entails hands-on experience with T-SQL, data modeling, database query optimization, SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS to support enterprise applications and data-driven solutions. Under supervision and general direction, with some latitude for independent judgment, the IT Assistant will: + Design, implement, and maintainu00bfrelational database systemsu00bfto support .NET applications and data integrations. + Write and optimizeu00bfcomplex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions. + Performu00bfdatabase performance tuning, indexing, and optimization. + Ensure data integrity and compliance with database security and privacy standards. + Integrate databases with enterprise systems and third-party APIs. + Utilize tools such asu00bfSQL Server Management Studio (SSMS),u00bfSQL Profiler, andu00bfEntity Frameworku00bffor development and troubleshooting. + Create reporting solutions using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) by analyzing user needs and information availability. + Work with subject matter experts and development teams in design, development, testing, implementation, and support of application projects. + Develop reports and custom queries for ERP systems such as PeopleSoft and Workday. + Work with Big Data technologies such as MongoDB for data storage and analytics. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Level 1 1. A High School diploma or its educational equivalent from an accredited institution and two (2) years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or 2. An Associateu2019s degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or 3. A Bacheloru2019s degree from an accredited college or university and six (6) months of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or 4. A Bacheloru2019s degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college or university. Level 2 1. A High School diploma or its educational equivalent from an accredited institution and three (3) years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or 2. An Associateu2019s degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or 3. A Bacheloru2019s degree from an accredited college or university and eighteen (18) months of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position. 4. A Bacheloru2019s degree from an accredited college or university in a computer related field and one (1) year of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position. Level 3 1. A High School diploma or its educational equivalent from an accredited institution and five (5) years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or 2. An Associateu2019s degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or 3. A Bacheloru2019s degree from an accredited college or university and three (3) years and six (6) months of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or 4. A Bacheloru2019s degree from an accredited college or university in a computer related field and three (3) years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position. English Language Proficiency: Demonstrated English language proficiency, including the ability to speak, read, write and understand English well enough to meet minimally acceptable performance standards set for job tasks. CUNY considers full-time work to be at least 35 hours per week. Part-time experience of at least 20 hours per week may be prorated by half and credited instead of, but not in addition to, full-time experience during the same period (e.g., two monthu2019s related work experience at 20-34 hours per week equate to one monthu2019s full-time related work experience.) Part-time experience of fewer than 20 hours per week cannot receive any credit. Note: A Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York, may be required for certain positions. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Preferred Qualifications + 2 years of experience in SQL Server, T-SQL, data modeling, database query optimization, SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS. + Proficiency in supporting MS-SQL Server 2017/2019/2022 databases in high availability environments with intimate knowledge of both SQL and T-SQL. + Experience developing web applications usingu00bf.NET,u00bfC#,u00bfASP.NET Core,u00bfMVC, andu00bfBlazor. + Familiarity withu00bfITSM platformsu00bfsuch asu00bfServiceNow, and learning management systems likeu00bfBlackboard LMS,u00bfBrightspace LMS,u00bfDegreeWorks, andu00bfEAB Navigate. COMPENSATION New Hire: $30.99/hour Incumbent: $34.99/hour This amount reflects a 13% salary suppression for the first 24 months of employment.
