We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate individual to join our quality assurance team. As part of this team, you will perform dimensional inspections on aircraft parts and assemblies throughout various phases of production. The Joby Aviation team is made up of extremely talented, hardworking, proactive, and hands-on individuals, operating in a very fast-paced and rewarding environment. We are looking to expand this team with like-minded individuals looking to make a mark in the transportation industry. This position is located at our Marina, CA location.Perform dimensional inspections on parts and assembliesPerform in-process inspection during composite part build upPerform dimensional inspection on aircraft during assemblyUtilize a variety of high precision metrology equipment, including bridge CMM, portable CMM, laser tracker, laser scanner, calipers, micrometers, and more.Accurately report inspection results utilizing Polyworks inspection softwarePerform ad hoc part and process inspectionsDocument and relay nonconformance informationConduct first article inspection and generate first article inspection reports in compliance with SAE AS9102 (as required)Help drive continuous improvement of the inspection process through 5S and KaizenHigh-school diploma or GED plus one (1) year of on-the-job experience in quality inspection or a related disciplineAbility to easily understand and use computers and a variety of softwareExperience in the use of inspection tools or machinery (i.e. surface plate, thread gauges, pin gauges, micrometers, calipers, height master and height gauge, Jo-Blocks, impression molds)Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and the x, y, z coordinate systemKnowledge of basic quality terms, definitions, and conceptsFamiliar with reading and interpreting blueprints and identifying critical, major, and minor characteristicsMust understand types of measurement, measurement terminology and the different types of measurement scalesMust know the difference between accuracy and precision and be able to select the appropriate measuring tools and techniquesMust be able to identify/recognize inspection errors and nonconformances and initiate corrective actionUnderstanding different testing methodsUnderstand traceability (product, material and calibration)Ability to work within a team environmentGeneral knowledge of ASME Y14.5MProficient in understanding of GD&TProficient in the use of Laser Tracker, Faro Arm and/or Bridge CMMProficient with Polyworks Inspector SoftwareWorking experience in an advanced or aerospace manufacturing environmentAbility to program a Coordinate Measuring MachineKnowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection RequirementUnderstanding basic statistical terms and techniques, how to plot data and how to recognize out-of-control conditionsStrong knowledge of mathematical operations and perform measurement conversions; be able to solve for x; add and subtract degrees, minutes, and seconds.ASQ Certified Quality Inspector CertificateExperienced in tooling setupsCompensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $25.00-$35.70/hour.
