Apply today General Description : You will be working closely with the leaders in the Eastern Michigan University Hospitality group developing skills and competencies to understand what is needed to be successful in the world of sustainability. You will gain valuable experience in the following areas: operations, marketing, administration, guest services, problem resolution, planning and implementation of innovation and client relationship skills. This internship involves hands on experience working in the world of hospitality which will guide you to your personal success in a career of sustainability. Key Requirements : u2022 A love of the world of hospitality u2022 Interest in the service industry u2022 Attitude of a leader u2022 Enjoyment of inspiring others and sharing knowledge u2022 Good to better interpersonal skills u2022 General interest and knowledge u2022 Awareness to sustainability practices u2022 Must be undergraduate student Interest in one or more of the following : u2022 Waste Not 2.0 u2022 Carbon foodprint u2022 Farm to Fork u2022 Interest in creating a better community u2022 Quality Assurance Job Responsibilities (May include any or all) : u2022 Research and Analysis of sustainable best practices u2022 Coordinate sustainable initiatives and visualizing the source of our food u2022 Results analysis: preparing metric-backed stories for Business Reviews and other touch points u2022 Inputting your business Unitu2019s operations data into reporting programs u2022 Financials u2022 Food Recovery Network Initiatives u2022 Executing operational standards u2022 Story telling: sharing metric-backed stories with reporting entities (e.g. AASHE STARS, GRA, etc.) u2022 Working in different settings within the world of hospitality: FOH, BOH, Catering, Admin u2022 Training dining team and students on sustainable initiatives u2022 Present findings in reports and presentations Learning Objectives : u2022 Demonstrate awareness, understanding and skills necessary to work in a diverse environment. u2022 Experience opportunities to learn, observe, and practice a variety of experiences in the world of sustainability. _This is a paid intern position; however, it is not eligible for paid time off (PTO) or benefits such as medical, dental, vision, etc._ _ _Because this position requires you to perform services in an educational facility, there may be periods when the Company does not require you to perform work (such as winter and summer breaks when food service needs decline or cease).
