2026 Specialty Nurse Intern Program - Pediatric ICUFull-time, Day Shift & Night Shift Available10-week Summer Nurse Externship program, Monday, June 1st - Friday, August 7th, 2026In conjunction with the University of Chicago Medicine’s mission to provide superior health care, the Specialty Nurse Intern is a nursing student who provides patient care in specialty areas under the direction of a registered nurse. The Specialty Nurse Intern provides care to patients and their families by assuming defined patient care responsibilities and by performing specific clinical skills appropriate to the role.In this year-round internship, students will be matched with the Pediatric ICU for the duration of the academic program. The formal Nurse Internship program will last throughout the entire academic year. The expectation is to continue working throughout the entire academic year with flexible scheduling. It is the expectation that these candidates will work at UCM in the identified clinical area for 2 years following graduation.We are looking for candidates that have a passion to work for UChicago! Following the summer, the expectation is that the internship will continue throughout the year.
