Job Title: Technician Job Description This role involves performing general labor and environmental technician work at the Chiquita Landfill. You will be responsible for tasks such as digging and adding dirt on top of trash, cleaning inside the flares, and potentially operating and maintaining landfill gas recovery systems. The position requires flexibility to work from 7 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends. Responsibilities + Perform general labor tasks including digging and adding dirt over landfill trash. + Clean the inside of flares which convert trash into gas. + Operate and maintain landfill gas recovery and migration control systems. + Monitor emissions and ensure landfill safety. + Assist the site foreman with necessary tasks. + Demonstrate initiative by independently finding tasks to complete on site. Essential Skills + Experience in site laborer, field service, and general labor. + Ability to work in an outdoor environment for 8-10 hours a day. + Comfortable with the unpleasant smell at a landfill. + Strong mechanical aptitude. + Basic computer literacy. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in the construction or environmental field. + HAZWOPER certification is a plus. + Possession of reliable transportation and a clean driving record. Work Environment The work takes place outdoors at a landfill, where the conditions can be physically demanding due to the nature of the tasks and the environment. Candidates should be prepared for exposure to unpleasant odors and varying weather conditions. A casual dress code is expected, suitable for physical labor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Castaic, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
