This role is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on refrigerated systems (reefers) installed in intermodal shipping containers. The technician may also be required to service and repair generators and other power equipment, and must be capable of operating service trucks and forklifts as part of daily operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in refrigeration systems, electrical troubleshooting, and mechanical maintenance, and will work in accordance with IAM union guidelines and safety standards.Candidates must be available to work either of two scheduled shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.Functions & Dutiesu2022 Yard Repairu2022 Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on refrigerated container units (Carrier, TK, Daikin, Star Cool)u2022 Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and refrigeration system issuesu2022 Conduct inspection and testing to ensure equipment meets operational and safety standardsu2022 Maintain accurate service records and documentation of work performedu2022 Service and repair generators and auxiliary power equipment as operational needs requireu2022 Operate service trucks and forklifts to transport tools, equipment and containers as neededu2022 Utilize diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot and calibrate reefer units.u2022 Spare Parts Shopu2022 Manage and maintain spare parts inventory levelsu2022 Coordinate with suppliers to order and replenish parts as neededu2022 Ensure timely delivery of parts to support maintenance activitiesu2022 Monitor stock levels and perform regular inventory auditsu2022 Maintain accurate records of inventory transactionsu2022 Identify and resolve issues related to spare parts availabilityu2022 Prepare reports on inventory status and part usageu2022 Other Responsibilitiesu2022 Ensure compliance with company policies and proceduresu2022 Participate in ongoing training and certification programs as required.u2022 Adhere to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and union work rules.u2022 Job Site / Functions will vary subject to the business requirementsKnowledge, Skills, Abilitiesu2022 Experience operating service trucks and forklifts in an industrial or port setting.u2022 Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and mechanical components.u2022 Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.u2022 Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.u2022 Must be available to work either of two scheduled shifts, including nights, week
