Description Halifax Community in partnership with Martin Community College and Roanoke-Chowan Community College is seeking a Part-Time Instructor to teach courses in English and Social Studies in a fully online Adult High School (AHS) diploma program. This hybrid role supports adult learners in North Carolina’s Tier I counties who are working to earn their high school diploma through a flexible, virtual model. Examples of Duties Instructional Duties Deliver engagement and rigorous instruction in English Language Arts and Social Students that aligns with North Carolina Adults High School curriculum standards.Use the designated learning management system (e.g.. Moodle or canvas) to provide instruction, assignments, and feedback.Adapt instructional maternal and methods to meet the diverse needs of adults learning in a virtual environment.Foster a supportive and inclusive online classroom that promotes students' success. Student Support Maintain regular communication with students to encourage courage completion and academic success.Offer virtual office hours and provide individualized support as needed.Collaborate with the AHS Program Director and other staff to ensure student retention and program compilation.Assessment and Recordkeeping Administer and monitor required assessments, including pre- and post-test when applicable.Maintain accurate records of students' attendance.Progress, grades and participation.Support date collection and reporting requirements for program evaluation and compliance.Collaboration Participate in team meetings (Virtual or in-person with the AHS Program Director and consortium staff).Collaborate with colleagues to align instruction, share strategies, and ensure curriculum consistency across the program.Maintain open lines of communication with instructional leadership to support program goals. Minimum/Required Qualifications Minimum Education and TrainingBachelor's degree in English, History, Education, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.At least one year of teaching experience in English or Social Studies, preferably with high school or adult learners.Experience teaching online or hybrid formats, and familiarity with digital learning platforms.Strong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage a virtual classroom independently while meeting program standards.Preferred Education and TrainingMaster’s degree in a related field.Current or prior North Caroline teaching license in English, Social Studies, or Secondary Education.Experience working with adult learners, high school equivalency programs, or alternative education settings.Familiarity with WIOA Title II funded programs or North Carolina Community College Adult education systems.Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
