Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Nursing Assistant (NA) to join a Surgical Services PACU multi-site team at a leading healthcare facility in Palo Alto, CA. In this role, you will provide essential direct and indirect patient care, support nursing staff, and help maintain a safe, efficient, and patient-centered environment. This position requires strong communication skills, the ability to work effectively in high-acuity settings, and a commitment to delivering respectful, high-quality care. Assignment Details Pay Rate: $30.00 per hour Schedule: Day Shift, 8-hour shifts Department: Surgical Services-PACU (Multi-Site) Start Date: February 12, 2026 End Date: May 13, 2026 Duration: 13-week contract (initial) Location: Palo Alto, California Key Responsibilities Observe, measure, record, and report patient information and changes in condition Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, nutrition, elimination, and mobility Obtain and document vital signs for stable patients (no more frequent than every 4 hours), as assigned Ensure patient identification and allergy bands are in place at all times Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, families, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members Recognize and provide age-appropriate and culturally sensitive care Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and changes in patient condition; notify RN or Resource Nurse as required Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient care environment; stock rooms and supplies as needed Assist with patient transport for admissions, discharges, and procedures per hospital policy Perform sitter duties when assigned Utilize the electronic health record (EHR) system in accordance with hospital policies Participate in orientation, training, and ongoing learning activities Support unit operations, including assisting the unit clerk when needed Minimum Qualifications Education High School Diploma or equivalent Licenses & Certifications BLS (Basic Life Support)-Required Experience Minimum 1 year of patient-facing experience as a Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Companion, Caregiver, or similar role Experience with vital signs, ADLs, patient monitoring, and documentation Acute care or long-term care experience preferred Prior Nursing Assistant experience strongly preferred EPIC experience highly preferred Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to accurately and independently perform required reading, writing, and basic arithmetic Strong verbal and written communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare staff Demonstrated patient-centered customer service skills in high-volume or stressful environments Knowledge of basic nursing aide principles, medical terminology, and patient care procedures Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA standards Understanding of asepsis, hygiene, and infection control practices Proficiency with standard charting procedures and EHR systems Ability to take and record vital signs and safely transport patients Strong organizational, problem-solving, and workflow management skills Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English at a level appropriate for the role Benefits & Perks Competitive hourly pay Excellent hospital work environment Health, Vision, Dental, and Life insurance options Weekly payroll 24-hour accessibility and ongoing recruiter support Personalized service tailored to your assignment About Power Personnel Since 1994, Power Personnel has partnered with top healthcare organizations across Northern California to place skilled professionals in critical roles.
