Work will be conducted in the field at DWR locations at Lake Oroville in Butte County, California.Watercraft inspectors will conduct outreach and education for each watercraft owner/operator and will physically and visually inspect all watercraft for aquatic invasive species and assess risk in accordance with control guidance and according to established protocol. Training will be provided by Dudek. The number of hours depends on project needs; 40 hours per week is not guaranteed. This project is slated to end October 30, 2026.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAquatic Invasive Species outreach and education of watercraft owners/operatorsPerform watercraft inspections according to protocol.Documentation, data entry, reporting.Clear communication with the public, staff, partners, and professional demeanor.All work will be conducted under the guidance of Dudek senior staff, and complete background information and instructions will be provided for each project and site.Equipment needed for data collection will be provided by Dudek.Other duties as assigned.Will require driving at low/no light conditions.Minimum QualificationsHigh school degree, some college or university experience preferred.Basic computer literacy skills.Must possess a valid driver’s license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by the first day of employmentMust have reliable transportation.The ability to work on weekends and holidays as needed.Preferred QualificationsStrong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skillsTeam-oriented with a proactive, solution-focused mindsetSelf-directed and dependable in fast-paced, high-pressure environmentsCustomer service-oriented with strong problem-solving skillsBackground in outreach, education, and public engagementSound judgment and decision-making in dynamic field conditionsDetail-oriented with a proven track record of accuracyGeneral knowledge of watercraft operations and handlingCompensation: $23.50/hourly* (As-Needed/Variable Hour)*Finalagreed-upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check prior to beginning employment.*Project-Based Position Notice: This position is being hired specifically to support a defined project and is anticipated to continue through October 30, 2026, based on current project timelines and funding. Employment with Dudek remains at-will, and this anticipated end date does not constitute a guarantee of employment for any period of time.Working ConditionsThis joboperates in an outdoor environmentand this role routinelyuses standard equipment such as mobile phones.This job may necessitate working in an outdoor enviornment during low/no light hours including early mornings and late nights.The outdoor environment of this job may include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, and moving vehicles and equipment.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This job requires the following:This job may require working on a mobile phone, standing for long periods of time in an outdoor setting.Employees must be capable of bending, squatting, climbing ladders, andlifting upto 35 lbs. unassisted; 50lbs in a team lift (two or more employees).Attending meetings, both in person and virtually, and speaking on the phone and in person with government agency representatives, memebers of the public, and others.
