Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Palm Harbor, Florida. This is a contract position requiring expertise in accounting and payroll processes, particularly within governmental frameworks. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of financial operations and identifying opportunities for process improvements. This position is 5 days on site. Responsibilities: u2022 Manage weekly payroll operations for approximately 80 employees, including hourly, salaried, and fire shift schedules, utilizing QuickBooks Desktop. u2022 Process bonuses and incentives based on varying criteria, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payroll procedures. u2022 Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including payment processing and revenue posting. u2022 Conduct bank reconciliations across multiple accounts to maintain financial accuracy. u2022 Prepare month-end financial reports for the Commissioneru2019s Office, including budget updates and account balances. u2022 Handle credit card payment processing and reconciliation tasks efficiently. u2022 Review and process plan reviews for new construction services, managing associated payments. u2022 Assess current accounting and payroll systems to identify opportunities for automation and process enhancements. u2022 Collaborate on the potential implementation of new governmental accounting systems, such as Aclarion. u2022 Ensure compliance with government accounting standards and practices throughout all financial operations. Requirements u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. u2022 Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and payroll, preferably within government settings. u2022 Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop for payroll and accounting tasks. u2022 Strong knowledge of governmental accounting principles and practices. u2022 Demonstrated ability to manage month-end close processes and account reconciliations. u2022 Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows. u2022 Ability to identify and implement process improvements and automation solutions. u2022 Familiarity with governmental tax regulations is preferred but not mandatory.
